How to use temperature option in ChatGPT API?

The OpenAI GPT-3 model’s text generation can be influenced through parameters such as “temperature”. The temperature affects the randomness of the model’s output.

By tuning the “temperature” parameter, you can adjust the randomness of the model’s responses:

- If you set a high temperature (e.g., 0.8), the output will be more random.
- If you set a low temperature (e.g., 0.2), the output will be more focused and deterministic.

Here is a Python sample of how to use the temperature option:

```
import openai
openai.api_key = ‘your-api-key’
response = openai.Completion.create( engine=“text-davinci-003”, prompt=“Translate the following English text to French: ‘{}’”, max_tokens=60, temperature=0.5
)
print(response.choices0.text.strip())
```

This code generates a French translation of the English text in the prompt, using the temperature option to set the randomness of the output. Remember to replace ‘your-api-key’ with your actual API key.

Note: The value for the temperature option lies in the range of 0-1.
