What is a parasitic domain?

A parasitic domain is a type of malicious domain created by cybercriminals to deceive internet users and extract sensitive data, spread malware, or conduct phishing attacks. It appears to be a legitimate domain but is actually a fake, unauthorized or compromised website that mimics the appearance of a well-known organization or brand. These domains are created with the intent to trick users into divulging personal information or downloading malware-infected files. Once the cybercriminals gain access to the personal information, they can use it to commit identity theft, fraud, or other criminal activities.
