How do EV (Extended Validation) certificates work?

EV (Extended Validation) certificates work in a similar way as other SSL/TLS certificates, but with additional validation requirements.

When a user visits a website secured with an EV certificate, their browser will perform several checks to confirm that the certificate holder is legitimate and authorized to use the domain name. This involves verifying the organization’s legal identity, physical presence, and ownership of the domain name.

The browser will display a green address bar and the organization’s name in the address bar, providing users with a clear indication that they are on a secure website that has been authenticated by a trusted third party.

EV certificates provide a higher level of trust and security than standard SSL/TLS certificates, making them ideal for websites that handle sensitive information such as financial transactions or personal data.
