How to configure security settings on Joomla?

1. Access the Global Configuration: Log in to the Joomla backend and navigate to System > Global Configuration.

1. HTTPS: Under the Server tab, enable HTTPS to ensure secure data transmission.

1. Error reporting: Under the Server tab, set Error Reporting to “None” or “Simple” to minimize the amount of information displayed to potential attackers.

1. Session Handler: Under the System tab > Session Settings, set the Session Handler to ‘Database’.

1. Admin Login: Under the System tab > Global Settings, set the Admin Login to “Username and Password”. In addition, use a strong password to prevent unauthorized access.

1. Regular Backups: Perform regular backups of the website and database in order to recover from potential security breaches.

1. Administrators: Restrict Administration access to a select group of trusted users.

1. Extension reviews: Use only extensions provided by trusted sources and keep them updated.

1. Secured User Sessions: Disable User Session IDs in URLs and set Cookie Settings to “HttpOnly” and “Secure”.

1. Disable directory browsing: In the .htaccess file, add the line “Options -Indexes” to prevent directory browsing.
