How to change MariaDB root password?


To change the MariaDB root password, follow these steps:

1. Log in to MariaDB shell as root with the following command:
```
sudo mysql -u root
```
1. Use the following command to switch to the MySQL db:
```
use mysql;
```
1. Now, you can change the password by typing the following line, be sure to replace ‘new-password’ with the new password you want to set:
```
update user set password=PASSWORD where User=‘root’;
```
1. Then you need to flush privileges. It tells the server to reload the grant tables. Type the following command and hit Enter:
```
flush privileges;
```
1. Now exit from MariaDB shell by typing the following command:
```
exit;
```
1. Restart MariaDB service using the appropriate command for your Linux distro, for example on Ubuntu:
```
sudo systemctl restart mariadb.service
```
Remember to keep your password in a safe place.
