FTP does not use encryption for file transfers by default. However, there are secure versions of FTP that do use encryption, such as SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) and FTPS (FTP over TLS/SSL). It is recommended to use one of these secure versions of FTP to protect sensitive information during transmission.
