simfs is a virtual file system used with OpenVZ, a server virtualization system. It allows files to be shared between multiple virtual private servers (VPS), which each have their own filesystem but still using the host server’s disk and inodes. This saves a lot of disk space as compared to fully isolated virtual machines.
