What is a GETNEXT?

GETNEXT is an SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) operation used to retrieve the value of the next instance of a variable in a table or a sequence of variables in a MIB (Management Information Base). It is used to walk the MIB tree and retrieve all the values of the variables in sequence. The GETNEXT operation returns the value of the next object in the MIB after the one specified in the request. It is typically used in network management systems to monitor and diagnose SNMP-enabled devices on a network.
