What is the TFTP protocol?

TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol) is a simplified version of FTP (File Transfer Protocol) that is used for transferring files over a network. It is a lightweight protocol that operates on top of UDP (User Datagram Protocol), which provides unreliable transport of data packets. TFTP is often used to boot diskless workstations or transfer firmware updates to network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls. Compared to FTP, TFTP has limited functionality and does not support authentication or encryption.
