The top-level domain (TLD) : CAL

I’m sorry, but there currently is no top-level domain (TLD) named “.cal”. Top-level domains, also known as TLDs, are essentially the suffixes or the last part of a domain name that follows the final dot. For example, in ‘www.example.com’, ‘.com’ is the top-level domain.

There are hundreds of top-level domains to choose from, which range from ‘.edu’ for educational institutions, ‘.gov’ for U.S. government agencies, and ‘.org’ for organizations, to geographical TLDs such as ‘.us’ or ‘.uk’, and even more specific ones like ‘.museum’ and ‘.aero’. However, as per ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), which is the organization responsible for regulating domain names, “.cal” is not on the list of approved top-level domains

There are also what is known as gTLDs, or generic top-level domains. These are some of the most common TLDs such as ‘.com’, ‘.net’, and ‘.org’. In recent years, ICANN has expanded the list of gTLDs, so now we also have options such as ‘.info’, ‘.biz’, and ‘.pro’. Still, ‘.cal’ is not amongst them.

The situation is the same with ccTLDs, or country code top-level domains. These are two-letter top-level domains that are reserved for countries or territories, such as ‘.us’ for the United States, ‘.ca’ for Canada, and ‘.uk’ for the United Kingdom. But there is no country or territory with a ccTLD of ‘.cal’.

Alternatively, it’s worth noting that ‘.cal’ could potentially be a second level domain name under a country’s TLD. For example, ‘.co.uk’ is a second level domain under the ‘.uk’ top-level domain. However, ‘.cal’ does not appear to be a recognized second level domain either.

As for inferenced special TLDs such as branded TLDs (.google, .bmw, .samsung etc), ‘.cal’ also do not appear.

To conclude, there currently isn’t a top-level domain ‘.cal’. However, ICANN does occasionally add new TLDs, so it’s always worth checking their list of current top-level domains if you’re unsure.
