The top-level domain (TLD) is essentially the last segment of a domain name or the part that follows immediately after the “dot” symbol. Common examples of TLDs include .com, .org, .net, .gov, .edu, and country codes like .uk, .us, .au etc. At present, there isn’t a recognized TLD by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) specifically as .DAY.
You can verify this by referring to IANA’s Root Zone Database, which is the authoritative record of all TLDs. As of when this answer is written, you won’t find .DAY on this list (iana.org/domains/root/db). TLDs are a critical component of the DNS (Domain Name System) used throughout the internet. Given that the new TLD registration enters into the process with a lottery system and an auction in case of multiple applicants, businesses and organizations took the opportunity to create TLDs that fit their brand or business sector. In this extensive list, .DAY does not currently exist.
Overall the TLD could make a massive difference in the way a website is perceived. A site using the hypothetical .DAY domain might signal a focus on daily updates, activities, events, or the like. However, given the current lack of this specific TLD, organizations or entities are unable to register a .DAY domain at present.
