The top-level domain (TLD) : FROGANS

The Frogans (.frogans) top-level domain (TLD) was created by the OP3FT, a non-profit organization located in France, dedicated to promoting, developing and ensuring the progress of the Frogans technology in the form of an open standard, for the internet community. This new communication medium on the Internet enables users to publish “Frogans Sites,” i.e., visual and interactive sites accessible through the Frogans Player, a software that can be installed on any Internet device.

The .frogans TLD was delegated on May 19, 2014 (records in the root zone file of the Internet Domain Name System), according to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers’ (ICANN) database. ICANN is a non-profit organization responsible for coordinating the maintenance and methodologies of several databases, with unique identifiers, related to the namespaces and numerical spaces of the Internet. ICANN database is a reliable database and is regularly used for checking the status of TLDs.

The OP3FT is the Registry Operator for the .frogans TLD, according to ICANN. As the registry, OP3FT oversees and manages the .frogans TLD to ensure it maintains its specific use. Registration of Frogans addresses is overseen by FCR operators (Frogans Core Registry operators) under contract with the OP3FT. It is important to note that Frogans addresses and Internet domain names are different from each other. For instance, the Frogans address of a Frogans site can be in the format ‘_brand.frogans’ or ‘_example.frogans.’

The introduction of the .frogans TLD reflects a new wave of innovation in the world of digital communication, creating a platform designed to primarily serve as an access point for users to utilize and interact with Frogans sites. These sites are meant to be simple and accessible to a wide range of users, ensuring this new platform can be used by all, regardless of their digital literacy levels.

OP3FT holds trademarks for the term “Frogans” in numerous jurisdictions around the world, which further suggests that the .frogans TLD will remain a specific-use case TLD, aimed at ensuring the uniform and effective development and use of Frogans technology.
