How to configure failover services in vSphere?

To configure failover services in vSphere, follow these steps:

1. Set up a cluster: Create a cluster of servers in vSphere where the virtual machines will be running. This can be done by either adding existing hosts to a cluster or creating a new cluster.

1. Configure shared storage: Configure a shared storage system that can be accessed by all the hosts in the cluster. This can be done using SAN or NFS.

1. Configure networking: Set up network settings for the cluster’s virtual machines. This includes creating a virtual switch, configuring network adapters for each host, and setting up network ports for the virtual machines.

1. Enable High Availability (HA): HA ensures that if a host fails, the virtual machine running on that host is automatically restarted on another host in the cluster. Enable HA in the vSphere web client by selecting the cluster and choosing “Configure > Services > vSphere HA.”

1. Configure Fault Tolerance (FT): FT provides continuous availability for virtual machines by maintaining a duplicate copy of the virtual machine on another host. Enable FT in the vSphere web client by selecting a virtual machine and choosing “Configure > Fault Tolerance.”

1. Test failover: Finally, test the failover process by simulating a host failure or network outage. Verify that the virtual machines are automatically restarted on another host and that FT is working properly.

By following these steps, you can configure failover services in vSphere to ensure high availability and continuous availability for your virtual machines.
