You can configure hard disk resource control in vSphere by following these steps:
1. Open the vSphere Client and connect to your vCenter or ESXi host.
1. Navigate to the ESXi host or cluster that contains the virtual machine where you want to configure hard disk resource control.
1. Right-click the virtual machine and select Edit Settings.
1. In the Virtual Hardware tab, expand Hard Disk and click the hard disk that you want to configure.
1. Scroll down to the Resource Allocation section and click Configure.
1. In the Resource Allocation dialog box, you can set the disk shares, limit, and reservation.
- Disk shares: This is the proportional amount of the CPU and memory resources that the virtual machine will receive compared to other virtual machines on the same ESXi host.
- Limit: This is the maximum amount of disk throughput (in IOPs) that the virtual machine can use. If the virtual machine needs more throughput than this limit, it will be throttled.
- Reservation: This is the minimum amount of disk throughput that the virtual machine needs to run properly. If the ESXi host is under heavy load, this reservation will be guaranteed, and the virtual machine will not be throttled.
1. Configure these settings according to your needs and click OK to save the changes.
1. Repeat steps 4-7 for any additional hard disks that you want to configure.
1. Click OK to close the Virtual Machine Properties dialog box.
1. Power on the virtual machine and test its disk performance to confirm that the resource allocation settings are working as expected.
