To configure the update management settings in vCenter, follow these steps:
1. Log in to vCenter with administrative privileges.
2. Navigate to the vSphere Update Manager tab.
3. Click on Configuration.
4. Click on Settings.
5. Click on Download Settings.
6. Select the source for obtaining updates: VMware’s website or a local depot.
7. Configure the download schedule and download options.
8. Click on Patch Repository.
9. Choose the patch location from the drop-down list.
10. Configure options for patch repository synchronization and clean-up.
11. Click on Notifications.
12. Configure email notifications for updates and remediation events.
13. Click on Remediation.
14. Configure the remediation options, such as host reboot and maintenance mode.
15. Click on Scan Settings.
16. Configure the scan options and schedule for virtual machines and hosts.
17. Click on Upgrade Settings.
18. Configure the upgrade options and schedule for virtual machines and hosts.
19. Click Save to apply the changes.
Once the settings are saved, vSphere Update Manager will use these configurations to manage patches and updates for hosts and virtual machines.
