What is the difference between a dedicated server and a VPS?

A dedicated server is a type of web hosting where a client leases an entire server not shared with anyone else. This provides faster performance, as all the resources of the server like bandwidth, memory, and storage are entirely dedicated to a single user. It’s typically used by large businesses and organizations that have high-traffic websites.

A Virtual Private Server (VPS), on the other hand, uses virtualization technology to divide a single server into multiple, separate virtual servers. Each VPS has its own operating system and resources, creating the impression of a dedicated server, but in a shared hosting environment. It’s less powerful than a dedicated server and is useful for smaller businesses or websites without heavy traffic.

To put it simply: a dedicated server is like having your own house with all of its facilities, while a VPS is like living in a condominium where resources (like pool, gym, parking, etc) could be shared with other condo owners.
