Setting up two-factor authentication (2FA) on Zimbra can add an extra layer of security to your emails. Here’s how to do it:
1. Start by going to the Zimbra web client.
2. Log in to your account.
3. In the upper right-hand corner, click on your name and select “Account”.
4. Once you’ve accessed the accounts, scroll down and locate ‘Security’.
5. Find the “Two-step authentication” section.
6. Click on the setup button to start.
7. You will be asked to verify your password. Enter it, then click ‘Next’.
8. You are required to download an Authenticator App (like Google Authenticator, Duo Mobile, Authy, etc.) in your phone to set up 2FA.
9. Once the app is downloaded, scan the QR code displayed on the screen using the Authenticator app to pair it.
10. The app will give you a 6-digit code. Enter this code in the Zimbra interface.
11. At this point, you may also be given recovery codes to use in case you lose access to the authenticator app. Save these codes in a secure place.
12. Click ‘Verify code and activate’. After this, 2FA will be activated.
Keep in mind that every time you log in to your Zimbra account from a new computer or after clearing cookies, you will need both your password and 2FA code.
